Olaf Hajek was born in Rendsburg, Germany. He received his degree in Graphic Design from the University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf, before relocating to Amsterdam to establish his career as a freelance artist. He currently lives and works primarily in Berlin, and is represented by agencies across multiple continents.
Hajek is a technically accomplished illustrator whose work is distinguished by its intricate visual compositions, in which elements of nature and artifice are seamlessly integrated. Drawing inspiration from his extensive travels, as well as from print media and contemporary visual culture, he has developed a singular artistic vocabulary that synthesises African traditions, Indian temple art, South American folklore, and global pop culture into richly detailed, near-surreal tableaux.
His practice is characterised by a masterful command of flora and fauna motifs, archaic symbolism, and contemporary themes, rendered with exceptional precision and vibrant chromatic intensity.
Hajek's work has been presented in solo exhibitions across international venues, including Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hamburg, Munich, Berlin, Atlanta, and Cape Town.
